General Testing Guidelines

Using this build for routine work:

Please use this build for routine tasks that you usually perform with Origin.

We have made every effort to ensure there is no issue with opening an existing  project file and then modifying and saving it from this new version.
But as a precautionary measure, we still recommend that you create a backup copy of your old project files before saving from this new version.

Installation Instructions

If your PC has 2018 or 2018b installed

       !!! Origin 2019 shares the same license with 2018/2018b. So please run your Origin 2018 first and check Help: About Origin. 

  1. If the Maintenance Expiration date is after 10/28/2018, you are qualified for Origin 2019. For Origin 2019 beta testing, just 
    1. Run the setup file for Origin 2019 to start installation. You will not be asked to enter a Serial Number. The Serial Number and license will be obtained from the 2018/2018b installation automatically.
    2. Run Origin 2019. Choose WIndow: Script Window...
    3. Run "del -path"
    4. Restart Origin 2019 and specify a new User Files folder than the default one. This will make sure your Origin 2019 will not interfere with your Origin 2018.
  2. If the maintenance expiration date is before 10/28/2018, they your are not qualified for Origin 2019. For Origin 2019 beta testing, please
    1. Run Help: Activate License... in Origin 2018 and backup your Origin 2018/2018b product key somewhere.
    2. Run the setup file for Origin 2019 beta. It will use your Origin 2018/2018b SN automatically. 
    3. Run the installed Origin 2019 beta. It will show License Activation dialog. Use the Product Key we provide to you to activate Origin 2019 beta.
    4. Choose WIndow: Script Window...
    5. Run "del -path"
    6. Restart Origin 2019 and specify a new User Files folder than the default one. This will make sure your Origin 2019 will not interfere with your Origin 2018.
    7. You can continue to use your Origin 2018, which shares the same new license as Origin 2019 beta. After all testing is done, when you want to switch back to your own Origin 2018 SN and license. You can run Origin 2018. Choose Help: Activate License.... Enter back your backed-up Origin 2018 Product Key.

If your PC does not have a previous version, or the version is older than 2018

Run the setup file for Origin 2019 to start installation. You will need to provide a Serial Number that is valid for Origin 2019.

Run Origin after installation, and enter a Product Key in the License Activation dialog that opens to activate Origin. You can find a Product Key in your license management page: https://www.originlab.com/reginfo
