When edit mode is independent, it now finds min/max of the selected plot, not the group.

Similarly, if edit mode is independent, the Mini Toolbar’s rescale button rescales to just the selected plot.

Hold Ctrl key and double click a column/bar allows user to customize or turn off the column/bar. But it couldn’t hide the corresponding error bar there.

LabTalk property Layer.group1.allcols=1 is used to set up a graph, created by plotting all columns in a worksheet, to auto add and remove plots when new columns are added, or existing columns are deleted in worksheet.

But this stops working if 1st Y column is deleted in worksheet.

1. Open Waterfall Plots - 3D Waterfall with Line and Scatter from Learning Center (any 3D waterfall should be the same)

2. In the Group tab of the PD dialog, set Edit Mode to be Independent.

3. In the Pattern tab, set Fill Color to be None. Click Apply button.

==> Fill Color of all curves on graph are changed to be None

4. Switch to the second plot in the left panel

==> The Fill Color in Pattern tab is still FAFAFA

5. Change the Fill Color to be black, click Apply button.

==>Fill color of the second plot on graph won’t change; remains ‘None’

1.Import some tif file into an image window.

2.Select Image menu - Convert to Column, click OK with default settings.

→ The curve showed on plot. (it is not slow, since it uses approximation algorithm)

5.Go to Data tab, check “Add Distribution Curves“, click Go button.

4. Click on the break symbol on axis and click the last “Plot Break Symbol“ MT button. ==> The plot on second break does not break into 2 parts.

5. Select the Y axis and press Del key to delete. ==> Plot Break Symbol does not draw.

German comma decimal separator in Axis Divide by Factor now converts to period

1. Change Separators combo to be 1.000,0

2. New a sheet and fill x with row number and y with very small numbers so that scientific notation is displayed.

3. Plot line graph and Y-axis should also have scientific notation.

4. Go to Y-axis dialog and for “Divide by Factor”, enter the highest tick label

5. Click OK and save Project and close Project.
   -->Tick labels change correctly.

6. Change Separator back to 1,000.0 and reopen Project file
   ==>The Divide by Factor is ignored, tick labels are not correct, comma is not converted to period.

4. Select other curve on the left, ==> the Pattern tab doesn’t show.

5. Uncheck for example the “Follow 1st Plot in the Group“ checkbox. → The Pattern tab shows.

Speed improved for Manipulate Plot Setup dialog when column Long Name is contains a particularly long string

1. Make a line plot with Long Name string very very long.

2. Open Plot Setup dialog. ==> It took a few seconds to see the contents in bottom panel.

3. Try some actions on dialog, like click Layer 1 line in the bottom panel. ==> It took a few seconds to see the line selected.

4. Check Y checkbox for col C in middle panel, click Add button. ==> It took a few seconds to see bottom panel updated.

5. Check the middle panel. ==> column width of “Long Name“ or “Comments“ is very long, which is not necessary.

5. Double click on label text to open Properties dialog > Leader Line tab.

Crash fixed when updating image opened from OLE (Object Linking and Embedding)

1. Make a simple scatter plot, Ctrl + J to copy page.

4. Right click on Sheet1's tab, select "Add Graph as Sheet: [Graph1]".

5. Close origin (no need to save).

6. Double click OLE object to open origin again.

7. New an image, import any picture file.

Drag to auto fill now skips hidden rows

Hidden cells will not be filled when drag to auto fill values in column.

E.g. fill column A with random numbers and add filter condition: Greater than 0.5 so some rows will be hidden in worksheet.

To fill corresponding cells in column B with text big, enter big in 1st cell of column B, then drag the bottom-right corn of the cell with big to auto fill.

Then disable filter in column A so all rows show to check effect.

Before Origin 2024b, hidden cells in column B are also filled with big, which is wrong.

In Origin 2024b, only cells that show are filled with big.

System variable @AFH is added in Origin 2024b to control the behavior. Default is 1. To roll back to old behavior, set

Cell formula failed to update when it contains named range

The bug started in Origin 2022 when named range was introduced.

One example to reproduce the bug

1. Fill Col(A) with row numbers.

2. Highlight column A and choose Data: Define Name (Ctrl+L)…

3. Set Name as alpha and Scope: Book. Click OK.

4. In B1, type a formula =total(alpha) and press Enter to see calculated value.

5. Change any value in Column A

==> B1 failed to update.

Copy data from Excel with some cell showing #Value! and paste into Origin.

Convert to Matrix: Direct output wrong scaling for Y across columns

1. Import Samples\Matrix Conversion and Gridding\DirectXY.dat.

2. Select menu Worksheet: Convert to Matrix: Direct to open dialog.

3. Choose Y across columns as Data Format, Y values in First Data Row, check the X Values in First Column checkbox.

4. Click OK.
   ==> The dimension of output matrix is wrong.

Fill column with arbitary set of text values generate wrong result

1. New a workbook, right-click on column A and choose Fill Column with: Arbitary set of Text&Numeric values to open dialog.

   ==> Wrong result generates. No problem if click OK.

Recalculation of Split Columns get wrong result if extra column adds

1. Fill column A with row number.

2. Highlight column A, select menu Restructure: Split Columns to open dialog.

3. Click OK with default settings.

4. Active result sheet, add a new column col C.

   ==> Only one value in the 1st result column, and column C fills with result data.

Crash fixed when dragging red dot of axis in preview of dialogs

Red dots on axis is a new feature in Origin 2024 to interactively adjust axis scale.

But they should not show on axis in preview window of dialogs, such as merge graph windows, smoothing, etc. Somehow for previews with layer icon showing on axis, if user clicks on the layer icon on axis, the red dots will show. Drag it, Origin will crash.

No issue for preview windows without layer icon on axis.

Fixed in Origin 2024b.

Fixed crash with long font name containing more than 32 characters

1. Install a long name font with more than 32 characters such as Fira Sans Extra Condensed Medium. you can download it from google fonts.

2. Start origin, press Ctrl+U to open Options dialog, in Text Fonts tab, set Default combo as Fira Sans Extra Condensed Medium, click ok.
